leaving work last night - and a tall person nearly knocked me over…what the hell?
seriously….it’s tough being vertically challenged in this world….and that’s not to say that tall people are mean - they’re just oblivious to what’s going on beneath the clouds….for my church choir - the guitarist pratically towers over me - so for the sign of the peace, I stay on the rafters and give him a hug, “Peace be with you, Shorty.” and that’s for all the short people out there who ever wanted to be taller than a tall person. Yeah, baby! Kinda reminds of the time Mark and I were at the albatross in berkeley and we were navigating our way through all the bodies - to the drinks and the games….and some tall people just blocked the way….apparently the moving crowd was pratically microsophic under their gaze…or they couldn’t see over their noses for the short people vailantly trying to make their way to the boose. My Disney crowd instincts took over and I elbowed our way up to the bar…..I think I remember Mark muttering, “out of our way, tall people.” something like that…..they seemed surprised that we were elbowing our way through - it’s not like they heard our polite requests to move over….(possibly ignoring the short people) - we had no choice but to rudely push through….how could they keep us from our booze?
which also reminds me of the time when we visited my bro in Southern California and we took a wrong turn, somewhere in the Santa Monica Mountains….a beautiful sunset over the Pacific ocean - and we were a tad lost….the roads were narrow and our white toyota camry was doing it’s best to navigate the sharp curves…a porche tailgated behind…and we knew it was impatient to rip loose on that rode…finally, when we hit some open plataeu - the sports car cut us off and teared down the mountain - mark summerzied it best: “out of my way, poor people.” again - it’s not like that driver was being mean - but with that car, he wanted to let it loose, for all that its worth. yeah…something like that….
hmmm…..well…I guess I’m not going to be an evening dj at kalx any time soon
so sad for me….I still have my Sat morning shifts at the crack of dawn….the next time i’ll be on is 2/8/03….6-9am…
