a better week….

things are better….I have a mess load of things to work on for my residency…finally feeling helpful…

I went to Christie’s today….it’s a nice place for an auction house….It’s only a few blocks away from our flat. I produced this story….

Neato….

planning trips…

we want to go to Stonehenge tomorrow…trying to see if we can make it an overnight trip or not…

also want to go to Prague….

just bought tix for Italy….meeting up with our DC buddy for a road trip through Tuscany….

Mark’s mom is dropping by for Thanksgiving and tour through Ireland….

we just got to England…and now we’re trying to get out of here….

congrats to Boston

The World Series Champs - Boston Red Sox

It was a big deal for Mark….I think he stayed up for the game. It’s their first World Series title since 1918. Longtime to wait….about time the team got its act together…

I try to go to bed by 11ish….I end-up waking up around 6…taking about an hour to fit some yoga in and get ready for work…then I pick up my laptop and head for Cafe Nero. Here, I check e-mail and catch up on news…I like this headline posted on the Google News site (from China):
Red Sox sweep Cardinas to win first crown since 1918
Xinhua - 22 minutes ago

Then I go home….drop off my laptop and then head for the Oxford Circus Tube stop….I go to work….

Ok - why don’t I just get to work early and catch up on e-mail and news at one of those terminals? Well…sure, I may work for a news agency….they deliver news to a clients all over the world…but it’s a 24-hour operation…and each workstation is utlized for editing….so…I feel super bad about taking up one computer to do my daily e-mail/news catch-up.

blogging from Kinkos

yo.

Mark’s filling out his ballot for LA County. Represent! I heard a rumor that Cali could be a swing state….maybe thanks to the Gov-inator, a Republican actor.

I had my absentee ballot mailed to my parents home. My dad mailed it to our London address. I got it last week. It took about two weeks to get here. I guess that’s how long it takes for my postcards to make it to the States.

On BBC and other news programs, the ex-pat voting situation has been a highlight in the news coverage. Several folks are not getting their ballots. Thankfully, we found this fab Kinkos. Mark was able to e-mail his ballot to the store. They printed it out for him. After he completes his civic duty, he can fax the ballot to LA. Damn that’s cool.

In the meantime, I’m checking e-mail….about 5 p a minute and £3 for an hour…this place is open 24/7….so…this could be a tempting place to hit when I’m jonesing for a cyber thing….after Cafe Nerros closes.

rolled back this version of movabletype

I was getting sick of the spam in the comments - so I installed Movable Type Version 2.64.

I also figured out how to get MT Blacklist working - so all queenkv blogs are now protected again from the evil spam. Yeah. F-spam.

That feels better…to family and friends - feel free to post your comments and love…to evil marketing bastards…mt blacklist will block your sorry asses.

The rest of my day sucks.

i am sore…

i can barely move from last night’s body combat class…at the gym, our membership includes the exercise classes…so I took advantage of one…body combat was kinda like martial arts…set to music…then sped up to include as many reps as possible. in the beginning, I tried to remember my forms…but half-way through the class, I was just trying to keep up with the music…damn the 2:2 dance beat. Kicks, punches and then ab work. Ow! But I totally needed it after pigging out on the rich food from London, Rome and Paris.

Ok…now I’m going to a yoga class…hopefully it well help with the sore joints.

part 2 on Mark’s equation…

Mark looks up from his laptop and smiles at me….like he came up with something brilliant and horribly cheesy….
he said: “Kris is the area of a circle because without her, my life would be a giant hole.”

And he curves his hands to demonstrate…

I also got this e-mail form Wes…
Is he saying you are round like a circle? That’s not a very nice thing for
a husband-to-be to say … or maybe you’re the area around the center of his
circle … that’s a little better … oh wait a minute … kris is the area
of the circle … area = pi * radius squared … radius = q and/or t …
you’re a pie cutie? do you eat a lot of pie? oh wait … qt*pi
nerrrrrrrrd humor … speaking of which, are you back here for the holidays?
I found the perfect gift …

it’s nice to start of my day with some giggles

something from Mark…over ICQ

ok…I know it’s geeky…but even when we’re sitting together at a coffee shop, we would ICQ each other….Mark sent this little equation over….

Love of My Life: Mark: solve for Kris
Love of My Life: Mark: where r=the radius of the unit circle
Love of My Life: Mark: assume “Kris” is the area of the circle with radius q. also assume that the lenght of the radius is equal to t . solve for Kris.
Love of My Life: Mark: length

Can you guess what it is?

three-day work week…

the rain feels familar…i don’t like it…but the rain reminds me of springtime in the bay area….it feels warmer though…maybe it’s because i’m wrapped up in mu ultra-heavy jacket. this peabody jacket got me through my first mid-west winter…so, it’s serving me well in London.

so…i have thursday and friday off, again. i just finished my edit for the Life feed and it will run tomorrow morning. been feeling sad…maybe it’s been accentuated by the rain…but working on the script and the video edit put me in a better mood. i love working to the point that my emotions, my sad ones, seem to disappear…

it’s only an illusion.

surf and sip is slow as paint drying…..

ok…the surf and sip network is slow…but i’m putting up with it..i only had time to e-mail my professor last night. then cafe nero closed up…i got Thursday and Friday off from Reuters….so I’ll do work for Haas then.

This weekend, we visited the Tate Modern and the Tower of London. Fun places. The Tate Modern had a hallway filled with human voices…uttering nonsense and creepy phrases. Bruce Nauman’s Raw Materials…apparently it’s art. But it was also creepy…I have pix from the Tower of London and I’ll post them later.
