I adored living in London and seeing the amazing sites in and around the city.
And now…some of my favorite memories from this past year…

I adored living in London and seeing the amazing sites in and around the city.
it’s been fun…lived in a bunch of places - chicago - paris - london….and now DC. I also started up a dc photoblog to chronicle my adventures in our nation’s capital.
I’m sitting sideways on a couch in Steph’s place - currently stealing some wifi from her next door neighbor. I have not been paid and the assholes at Foxton still have my deposit
So…we’re doing New Year’s on the cheap - we plan on heading to a bar that’s rocking out new wave and drum and bass….hoping they still have tickets. We’re usually more organized than this…but it’s been tough - Mark’s been working and I’ve been sick and robbed by Foxton’s. At least we have each other….and we managed to score a short-term basement rental.
I think the bears had a blast these last few days….we did a mess load of traveling…
From Cali - we went to Vegas and celebrated my Ate Gigi - graduating from nursing school She rocks!

it was neat to drive down from Buffalo….we watched the snow melt away as we got further and further away from New York….
trying to find a place to live…but most folks don’t want to rent to couples…it’s kinda frustrating
beautiful day in Maryland (that’s where Steph’s place is). Sunny - NO SNOW….
i heard it’s raining in LA….kinda funny.
BUFFALO, NY - When we landed at the airport in Buffalo on Christmas Eve - the flight crew said “Welcome to the North Pole.”
Why not?
I’m in Buffalo - enjoying the Christma holiday with Mark’s family. I’m missing California and my family - terribly….like a heart ache. Still…it’s quite pictureque out here….it’s a White Christmas - just like anything you’ve seen in a holiday film or heard in a Bing Crosby Christmas song. It’s snowing….and we’re sipping gingerbread lattes in Starbucks - just off Niagra Falls Blvd.
We almost spent Christmas Day in an airport.
CALIFORNIA - beautiful! tank-top-weather! I’m getting my tan back! Yeah! (that was sarcasm…about the tan).
I used to think that Bing Crosby had it right about a White Christmas…I used to think I was missing out on some magical thing with snowfall and snowflakes and actually needing a fireplace to stay warm….now I realized that Jesus was born in a desert - nowhere near snowfall and snowflakes….on top of that - LA knows how to celebrate Christmas - plenty of holiday tunes (”Last Christmas, I gave you my heart….”), Christmas lights and palm trees. You can still get into the Christmas spirit with 60 degree weather….I kinda wished it was warmer - last week it was in the 70’s.
yeah! my honey backed up all web pages, images and your precious comments to his laptop hard drive…..and everything’s back to normal…the style sheet looks like crap - but i’m working on it. at least all the brainpickings are there.
at the moment there’s a typekey login for comments - if you don’t have the time/patience/intelligence to sign-up for an account (it’s free to do so) - then you can’t comment on the site….this may change - depending if i decide to pony up the cash for a paid moveabletype installation (or…if there’s some kind cyber soul who wants to help me out with that - you would be too cool for words….I would pay for it myself but Foxton’s in London has not given my deposit back….and i’m dirt poor. Damn Foxton’s…..do not rent from that agency - they will steal your money).
So…that’s all on typekey.
but yeah…brainpickings is back….along with my chicago photoblog
and eurotrip photoblog….
oh…one more change - brainpickings is now a subdomain of queenkv.org:
brain.queenkv.org
Cheers!
thanks to spammers - yes - it’s because of spammers - I needed to do some major upgrade/site switching/etc - on all blogs….
so if you notice pages are missing - entries are missing…especially on the eurotrip blog - do not PANIC. I know they’re missing and I’m working on restoring all sights. keep your pants on.
DO NOT E-MAIL QUEENKV ABOUT MISSING ENTRIES. i have everything backed up and things will be back to normal - asap.
keep your pants on…..
blogging from heathrow…waiting for our aer lingus flight. i can’t wait to go home. the tube was closed this morning and we woke up late. a cab broke several traffic laws to get us to our terminal on time.
i’ll miss london
just finishing up the port we picked up from Dublin….yes…they sell Portugese port in Dublin.
And it’s good.
We saw Chicago last night at the Adelphi Theater…..totally thrilling! It was a bit hard to get into the characters since I saw the film first with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renée Zellweger and Richard. Still entertaining - the Bob Fosse choreography was totally hip and it reminded me of the time I did “All that Jazz” for my last Spring Review exhibition in LA. My coach picked out the music and I came up with my own choreography…..I guess the music just inspires you into those moves….
It was neat to see Chicago - after living in Chicago….in London….after living in London. It was like seeing the Windy City through rose colored glasses.
I took the day off to pack….Decided to donate some clothing to Oxfam. The lady there said : “Thanks dahling.”
It freed up some weight for our luggage….we have a lot of stuff.
huge double-deckbuses….impatient cab drivers and racing motorcycles that come out of nowhere - I used to think I’d have to wait for the little green man flashing, before it was safe to cross Regent Street….or any busy intersection in London….
Now - I simply wait for a break in traffic - and regardless of the green man - I dash across to the other side.
