one week left in London…

i think we did pretty good - living in another country….visiting other countries….and having a great time.

as i headed out of the Tube - on the escalator…I stared at the ads….one showed a young girl trying to look glam for the camera - it was some luxury watch ad. The caption said it was “Sasha Cohen - Champion Figure Skater.” Good grief…she’s only 20 year’s old….she wouldn’t have remembered seeing Katerina Witt winning her first Olympic Gold Medal in Sarajevo. She’s a young thing….and her face is now plastered at a London Tube stop.

Took Mark’s mom out for her b-day tonight. Had a big Tex-Mex meal at the Texas Embassy….yeah - back when Texas was a country….

On our way to the Texas Embassy - I heard a sax player doing “Moon River” - I thought about Audrey Hepburn, swinging her leg and strumming that tune out on her apartment window in the film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.

I thought…..it must be a sign that it’s time to go home…I loved hearing that tune. - it sounded sweeter - a few thousand miles away from home…..

I told Mark that it sounded like it was time to go home - and then I proceeded to cross the street.

Then Mark yanked me back on the curb and a double-decker wizzed through where my body could have been in the middle of the street….

He muttered - not that way.

I felt like a dork - of course I meant go home to the States….not doing something stupid.

  1. Lady, I know what you mean about sounding better a few thousands miles away. I’m so ready to cross the Atlantic. With a pit stop in Paris. ;)
