Well, our little weather adventure lasted about an hour. It looked like dusk at about 3:00 pm - yesterday. Then the rains died down and the sun popped out. We saw a rainbow over I-70.
On Thanksgiving - we spent part of the afternoon on the phone with our families in Cali and NY. Folks sounded like they were having a good time. My mom said my Ate Ludett made a yummy mango cake - with fresh mangos. I’m happy to hear Nate got our postcards from Mexico. I figured Mexican donkeys were carrying our mail across the border.
We had dinner with at the photog’s house, near Washburn University. He whipped up a feast - turkey, stuffing, salad, creamy rice, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, macroni and cheese and more. I would have been grateful to spend the holiday in our apartment with just Mark and me. That’s the nice thing about marriage - the whole not-being-alone benefit. On the other hand, it’s also a blessing to celebrate with a group of people. It was lovely to discuss state politics, old job gossip, station business and each other over the dinner table. I’ve been lucky to have such friendlyy co-workers. On Sunday, the photog texted me and said I may get my wish and see a tornado in Topeka. That’s so sweet that he thought about me when he saw the tornado news flashes on TV 
During the dinner, we had a cute little girl to entertain us - flopping on the ground and wiggling her toes. I played peek-a-boo with the kid as her mom gave us advice about what to do with our families when you go into labor. Ouch. Sounds painful. The kid also tickled me. Then she lifted up my shirt. Wow. Little girls are funny, sometimes.
Let’s see. Last Friday we caught 2 comedy acts at Bullfrog’s. It was only a $5.00 entrance fee and it had reasonable prices for cocktails. Too bad the bartender didn’t know how to make a Long Island Ice Tea. My drink didn’t have any coke in it and it was weak on the alcohol. When I returned the drink to the bar, the bartender said he’d make me another drink but that I would have to pay for it as well. So, I left it at the bar and didn’t order any more drinks. Why would I pay cocktail prices for a virgin Ice Tea?
Thank heavens the comics kept me laughing. They made me forget about being bitter at the bartender who didn’t know how to make a Long Island Ice Tea. Our photog’s buddies told us they had the same problem last week - they had to get a Sex on the Beach re-made three times until he got it right. I know they have schools for this bartending gig.
On Saturday, we chilled out in Kansas City, MO. It took us only an hour to drive there. When I saw the high-rise apartment buildings and office buildings, I felt at home. I guess I’m a city girl at heart. I have pix and will post them later.
Off to work. I love saying that.
