Look what Daisy made at day care. She’s so talented! She used pawprints to make the sun and a doggie biscuit for the cow’s body. This work of art is hanging on our fridge.

I don’t have much time to spend on TV with Mark gone…my schedule is pretty discplined. I have to make sure Daisy gets her potty breaks and that she’s dropped off and picked up from day care…plus I need to make sure I get enough sleep during the day time.

So I picked three shows that I make time for - Top Chef on Bravo, Charmed on TNT, the Apprentice on NBC and the Amazing Race on CBS…these shows either have beautiful shots of home or other places I want to visit. The plots may be corny and contestants melodramatic beyond reality - but each show something I want to digest and get lost in…

Saying good-bye to my escape route from reality

Mark sent me this article about Act 1 & 2 closing down. It’s on Center St…close to Top Dog, a yummy Vietnamese restuarant, yummy burritos, Starbucks and more. It’s closing it’s doors this weekend.

I’m bummed. During my undergraduate years and my time at Haas, I checked out films by myself at this theater. I saw plenty of arty and foreign flicks that other people didn’t want to see. I felt comfortable curling up by myself in one of their comfy theater seats. I didn’t have to worry about cat-calls and rudeness from teenagers who were bored by the next blockbuster hit. When I was upset with people, boyfriends, co-workers, myself, the world - this theater was a sanctuary for me - a place to escape from my problems and get lost in French drama, British slapstick or something otherwordly.

Weekend Musings…

FREDA AND MAUDES, HUNTOON — Hooray! My brainpickings are back! I finished up transfering my site data to a new hosting service. Let there be joy on this earth. And if you can’t tell…this blog is in the middle of another re-design. The background picture is from Highway 59 - around sunset.

I’m sipping a Jones’ Blue Bubble Gum Soda at the site of my cameo on local news. It’s sunny in Topeka, with temps just kissing the 50’s.

I took my baby to Bark Park earlier. She had fun running around with the other dogs. But she growled at any pooch who tried to get near her “toy”. I tried to explain to her that the toy belonged to Bark Park and that all dogs had a right to play with the toy…but her doggie brain had problems with that concept.

testing…

I just swapped host services…and it’s been a pain in the rear-end to get this blog up and running.

Let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Laundry and Quicktime

The X-men movie trailer is out. It starts a few days after my birthday. This movie will rock my world, I’m sure.

I worked on laundry yesterday. It’s been tough trying to finish everything in one day…so I’m happy to wash-up one load at a time.

I never thought I would get satisfaction from house work. But when my time is loaded down with work, dog and lord knows what else…it’s nice to have something simple to accomplish.

Maybe I’m on my way to being a content housewife.

Yeah right.
