Sleepy Puppy

We’re just finishing up nap time for Daisy. She pretty much sets up her own schedule for naps and doing her business, when she comes home from Dog Day Afternoon. As they told us in Dog Training Class, a tired puppy is a happy puppy. Plus, it’s easier to take a picture of a puppy sleeping. She’ll turn one-years-old in a few weeks. We may celebrate with puppy cupcakes from Freda and Maude. Maybe.

And triple degree weather makes me want to indulge in some jello shots. I posted a bit about this summertime treat in my work blog.

I’m a dork…

I am nerdier than 50% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

I found this quiz on Neekole’s blog. I couldn’t help myself. I had to know…

I love tacos!

I posted this story on digg.com: A taco connoisseur hits Highway 1 in California in search of the perfect taco. She has an adventurous stomach, open to trying anything - from cow eyes, pig intestines and other exotic makings for tacos. This story made me so hungry!

Cafe de la Paz

Good times at Cafe de la Paz. This Latin-American restaurant is one of my favorites in Berkeley. Nice servers, yummy food and delightful cocktails. When I lived in the Bay Area, we’ve lot’s of celebrations here, going away parties, graduation parties and any excuse for a big group of people to indulge in a huge plate of paella. We met-up with Betina, Hans and Nat during our last visit to Bear Territory.

A really cute fact about the kid: he’ll calm down and smile when Betina sings the Cal fight song. Too cute! He likes it when she get’s to “grrr-rah!”

His parents are both Cal grads….no pressure.

Diplo-smack.

On a college radio list-serve, one volunteer pointed out that President Bush can say “shit” on CNN - without being bleeped and the rest of college radio is screwed by the FCC if any DJ played a song with the word “hell” in it.

“Recently, President Bush signed a Bill that increased indecency fines from the maximum of $32,500 up to $325,000 PER INCIDENT.”
(from last month’s e-mail update to volunteers).

I don’t know if the word “hypocrite” or “irony” would work for this case. What do you think?

I think it fucking sucks. But if you missed that delightful episode - Jon Stewart has a nice way of summing it up.

Back in Kansas…

Here’s Daisy in the little Bark Park. Since the World Cup was going on at the time, she wanted to play “Pele” with the fuzzy soccer ball. Despite the fact we’re at a public park, she thinks of the ball as her personal toy.

Discovery - Safe and Sound

Great news today - Discovery completed its mission and the crew is now back on Earth, safe and sound.

[from nasa.gov]

NASA posted the video of the shuttle’s touchdown here. I ran an ABC story about the final preps made before crew started their return flight. I kept repeating prayers in my heart for a safe landing all morning. With the other crazy stuff that’s been going on in the world, it’s nice to have this story of hope for the future…and for the day when space travel becomes a reality for all of us.

A moral crisis…

The clash of religious morals and medical duty has been heating up. The Washington Post posted an interesting story on this issue.

The best campus - ever!

Go Bears! It had to be said…

We walked around campus…near Strawberry Creek.

This guy was playing on his clarinet….when I took some drama classes, I used to work on my monologues by the creek.

We spent a day in Berkeley. Mark had to be in the east bay because he was on call for work…thankfully, he didn’t have to work.
