Tha man behind instant ramen died this week.
For the people who wanted something hot and easy to whip up…for the dorm students who wanted a quick pick me up during all-night study sessions…for campers who wanted something hearty on their outdoor adventures - Momofuku Ando made it possible.
Ramen is my comfort food. It’s my breakfast on cold days, when I want to close myself off to the world. It’s my dinner when things go bad at work and I don’t want to microwave leftovers. When I’m trying to cut down on my calorie intake - ramen keeps me filled up with less than 200 calories. When I’m feeling creative, ramen is my canvas for new flavors…sometimes I mix in some Grey Poupon mustard and that adds a nice kick. Other times I add a stick a butter and create a savory broth. I also add in slices of meat, mushrooms, vegetables… almost anything can make instant ramen taste good.
During my college years, Susan got me really hooked on instant ramen during our Tuesday Night Drinking Clubs. Good Times.

The other day, I ate nothing but instant ramen in honor of Momofuku Ando.
