Last weekend, I dived into a Kill Bill Party dressed as Oren’s bodyguard, Gogo. I know I don’t have long hair, white tube socks and a metal ball hanging from a wicked chain. However, I had a blazer, a kilt skirt and an authentic Catholic school white button shirt. I figured I could pass for Gogo’s older sister. Maybe.
Good times: vodka and sprite, Gumby’s pizza and of course, a DVD rockin’ the first Kill Bill movie. I still think it’s pretty gory, to the point of being offensive. But I enjoyed watching it at Fally’s house, with colorful commentary from her Lawrence peeps. It was easier to digest the spraying fountains of blood in a well-lit living room. Call me a wuss.
And as a side note, I was intrigued by the second Kill Bill movie after watching it on mute at Limerace. With a wine tasting and live jazz music, I read the closed-caption subtitles on the movie….and the orgin story of the Bride seemed compelling. I’d like to give that movie another chance on our DVD player, some day.

Moving on to something less violent, I read a charming entry on the No Impact Man blog that mentioned a free hug movement blooming in Central Park.
I love the music in this video….and I also love to see someone try starting up Free Hugs in Topeka. We could all use some unconditional love in the Capital City. I think.
