Sausage Chickpeas & Pasta

Italian sausage meat, chickpeas, garlic and penne pasta. Plus baked green and white beans. We also had a Talus 2006 Pinot Noir.

Farewell Nurse Chapel

Sad news. Majel Barrett Roddenberry passed away this morning. She was married to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and she was 76-years-old.

I first found out about it on Underpope’s Twitter feed.


In the pilot series, she was “Number 2” and second in command to Captain Pike. Many Trekkies loved her as the Nurse Chapel from the Original Series. I knew her best as the voice of the U.S.S. Enterprise computer in Next Generations. Also an interesting Trek tidbit – she’s the only actress to be featured in all 6 Star Trek TV Series.

R.I.P. Nurse Chapel.

Making Egg Nog

I love egg nog.
I was thrilled when my hubby wanted to drink this holiday cocktail as we decorated our Christmas Tree.

Christmas Cocktails

We mixed up Jim Bean, Captain Morgan’s Spicy Rum, Lucerne Egg Nog and Lucerne Dulce de Leche Egg Nog. I liked to count to 6 on my pours of the Jim Bean and the Captain. The hubby likes to measure out his shots with a shot glass. To each one’s own. Then we added whipped cream and nutmeg on top of the cocktail. It taste rich and sweet. It’s the perfect drink for the season.

And yes, I know that gray hoodie makes me look like a bum. I just got off work and I was thinking about my on-camera apperance. Grrr.

At the Bar Inside Sophia’s Thai Kitchen

Tom Kha soup tastes great on a cold winter night. I had the chicken version at Sophia’s in Davis. I also had rice to soak up the lemongrass broth.
