Geocache Adventures in Pasadena

I always thought of Pasadena as part of my teenage stomping grounds. There was so much to do without a fake ID.

Sipping coffee in Old Town. Goofing around on the diagonal crosswalks. Watching sneak previews.

As an adult (who is still carded at Old Town bars), I discovered more of the city’s nooks and crannies thanks to my geocache adventures.

100 Happy Days: Super Moon

Super Moon rising over San Francisco. I think I drove Mark a little crazy as I tried to snap the perfect lunar shot from my iPhone.

We had dinner at Gamine with Bethany. It was a pleasure to introduce her to one of our favorite French bistros in San Francisco.
#kvpinmybelly Happy first course! Beef tartare at Gamine in #SF Marina. So rich and velvety #foodspotting #french #foodstagram
We started with Beef tartare.

I had Spaghetti Carbonara.
#kvpinmybelly Spaghetti Carbonara at Gamine in #SF Marina. My favorite #pasta dish. Love that egg yolk over noodles and salty pancetta chunks. #foodspotting #pastalove #foodstagram

We closed out the restaurant. It was a pleasure to linger over dessert and port.

The kitchen surprised us with crème brûlée.

100 Happy Days: Bars

We visited several bars before we found one that suited us.
Homestead in San Francisco’s Mission.

It had a relaxed crowd. No cover charge and no band. I just wanted a watering hole where I could chat with my hubby.

100 Happy Days: Feeding My Soul

Feeding my soul with love.
Watching TV with my Daisy.

Feeding my soul with yummy food.
Lomo Saltado sandwich from Sanguchon food truck.

Feeding my soul with music.

I thought our impromptu piano concert at Heritage Wines in Lodi would work for this section.

Today – I loved this NPR segment on the science of pianos. I heard it on Science Friday as I drove down to Portola Valley for my lunch date with my hubby.

100 Happy Days: Slow Cooker

The slow cooker made my house smell like a taqueria in San Francisco’s Mission District. Chili and cumin aromas made it up to our bedroom.

An easy recipe for crockpot chicken with salsa surprised me.

I found it on a fitness-focused instagram page.
I made my own Mexican spice blend. I used a recipe from Barefoot in the Kitchen.

I also made Cuban black beans with tomatoes and corn. We wrapped everything up in wheat tortillas.

It tasted yummy.
It felt healthy.

100 Happy Days: Puppy Posing

Puppy posing so low to the ground!
Daisy waited for me as I took off my workout shoes.

I also like the sunlight in this shot. Such a pretty puppy!

100 Happy Days: Filipino Food

Filipino food reminds me of family. I loved it when Cate suggested Boracay Garden for lunch.

We ordered too much food. Also – I was impressed by these lunchtime portions.

Lechon Kawali – so meaty! Also liked the crispy pork skin.

Sinigang – so savory and sour!

Kare-Kare – so nutty!

Since Cate had the day off, we did cocktails and dessert at BJs.

Salted Caramel Pizookie.

Day 93 of 100 Happy Days.

100 Happy Days: Cooking

Cooking makes my kitchen smell amazing! I also like how it makes the kitchen the warmest spot in the house.

It was lovely to finish up my workout and watch my hubby take care of dinner.

Mark said the Barefoot Contessa’s bolognese recipe was easy to follow. I also liked the flavor combo of red wine, meat and tomatoes.
