Feeding the Soul

I’m waking up with aches and pains from our snowboarding weekend in Tahoe. I will post video, pix and thoughts about our snow adventures later.

A couple of weekends ago, we went to mass at St. Ignatius in the City by the Bay. It’s a beautiful Jesuit church next to the University of [...]

Homecoming

I woke-up in Vacaville this morning. It’s wonderful to be back in California. I know it’s grey, raining and a little dreary outside…but I’m thrilled to be home.

I couldn’t have made this trip without Mark. He has been the road trip leader and our home provider. He’s been our rock. I’m grateful [...]

The Other Side of the Rainbow

Back in Kansas.
During my class on films from 1939 — a Berkeley professor mused on Dorothy’s reaction to waking up on her aunt’s farm in Kansas. She said she wondered if Dorothy was truly happy to be home: a sepia-colored land stuck in the Depression. She asked: How could Dorothy be content with [...]

Photo Friday: Accidental

It’s been a few years since I’ve submitted anything to a photo theme challenge…I’d like to get back into that habit. At least for today’s Photo Friday - I know all about accidental moments.

I love the fierce vibe off this bumper sticker…on a San Francisco street sign near the Asian Art Museum

Working on music reviews…

Our family got hair cuts yesterday. I took Mark to my favorite salon for some hair pampering. We both loved our scalp massages. Besides I was looking hippie-ish with my shaggy hair.
Daisy got a summer shave. She’s now short-haired like my Tita Sylvia’s dogs, Jack and Jill. This should help her cope with the [...]

Say good-bye to Cody’s….

Cristine had a post about bookstores closing in the Bay Area…and she linked to this SF Gate article.
Cody’s on Telegraph will close on July 10, 2006. It’s been at that location for 43 years….and it was one of my favorite bookstores in Berkeley.
A damn shame.

Misunderstood….or a danger to society?

I browsed through Kansas headlines on google and found a BBC article about Overland Park…the BBC writing about the Sunflower State? Amazing.
But after reading this story…I felt so bad for everyone involved.

Such a beautiful city…this is a shot of Coit Tower from the Ferry Building. I thought it looked cool in black and white. I love San Francisco!

Watching the tide roll away…

We didn’t have a car in San Francisco and we took advantage of BART and Muni. SF has a decent public transportation system. It’s not as rockin’ as London’s Tube (not as timely, reliable and not as far-reaching) however, it’s also nice to give our wallets a break from the crazy gas prices. Here in [...]

Real Classy…Not Really.

I can’t believe this ended up in a daily…
The Colbert Report touched on this cover the other night…It’s not a photoshop challenge from Fark…it’s the real deal.

And Jossip had more…what the hell were those editors/copy editors/dudes-in-charge - thinking? It’s not that funny. But I suppose respect for any nation’s leader is sacrificed for the catchy [...]
