Big Crush

The leaves are changing color in Vacaville. I think we’ll have more vibrant colors as we get closer to winter.
I’m looking forward to a consistent schedule as my newsroom heads into November Sweeps. As soon as I get over my sore feet from my 1st 5-mile run, I plan on repeating that run in [...]

Back to My College Radio Roots

Earlier this month, we checked out the Davis music scene with a KDVS concert. One of my favorite bands from my KALX days, Casiotone of the Painfully Alone, headlined the $5 concert at on the UC Davis campus.
LA-Based Foot Foot opened up the show.

Lodi Detour

originally uploaded by queenkv.

Our Lodi Detour. I liked the Earthquake Zin at Michael-David’s. Wine tasting makes all roadtrips fun! Don’t worry. Mark’s DD.

70 Degrees

I love this warm February weather. I’m in a better mood with all the sunshine. Mark and I are just tickled with seeing 70 degree temperatures before March. I feel like I have more energy to do stuff in this t-shirt weather. This morning, I finished running 2 miles by Alamo Creek.
And this weekend, we [...]

Sonic Boom Boom over Topeka!

Mark, Daisy and I waited for the space shuttle Discovery to fly over Topeka about 15 minutes ago.
We waited near Burnett’s Mound (site of the 1966 Tornado). It was cold and too damn bright to see shuttle hurling towards Earth. However, we heard two sonic booms pass over us. The pass over didn’t rattle doors [...]

UC Berkeley puts hundreds of academic lectures on YouTube

I stumbled on this really cool Cal development on a Nashville blog:
UC Berkeley puts hundreds of academic lectures on YouTube. Talking about kicking Fiat Lux to the next level — sharing the intellectual light online.
Here’s a physics class by Professor Richard A. Muller.

The most interesting and important topics in physics, stressing conceptual understanding rather [...]

Science is not out to get Religion…Really

I saw this on Digg and I had to watch it for myself.

The Daily Background » Blog Archive » Video- “The Viewâ€? co-host doesn’t know if the world is round or flat. Good grief — I understand the need to take care of your children, but to use it as an excuse for ignorance? [...]

Post-Holiday Glow

Things are bumping nicely at work. It seems fireworks, cookies and the Independence holiday put folks back in a good mood.
I had a blast taking live shots from Lake Shawnee for the choreographed light show. One anchor was kind enough to thank me for providing July 4th fun for the newscast.
After our July [...]

Something twisted this way come…

Happy Cinco De Mayo! I went to the gym this morning. On the elliptical machine, I tried watching re-runs of America’s Next Top Model. But I kept flipping back to CNN and MSNBC. I couldn’t take my eyes off the overnight Tornado videos out of Oklahoma.

Another one destroyed a Kansas town near Wichita last night. [...]

Weekend Distractions

Last night, I dropped by Fally’s for a rockin’ Oscar party. It was nice to be surrounded my humans who talked back and who didn’t get all defensive when the doorbell rang…unlike one puppy I know.
Yummy brownies and spinach & cheese dip.
I’m pretty ticked-off at the Academy for snubbing Pan’s Labrynith for Best Foreign [...]
