A Waiter’s First Irish Coffee….

We went to dinner at BJ’s in West Covina, just off the 10 Freeway. Typical BJ food – over-priced American pub grub. But we liked it. Our server was another matter. It took him nearly 15 minutes to take our order. It wasn’t crowded….a week night…and well…we didn’t even have drinks to sip on or […]

vacation 2 – irish dancing and more

we woke up early for the Rochester Feis – irish dancing galore for the young Irish dancers…..yeah – we were also quite jet lag by the three hour time difference. we managed. somehow, we managed – thanks to some McGriddles and McDonald’s coffee. First we dropped off Josh’s cake – before we headed out to […]

Photo Friday: Perspective

Wandering around Florence. It’s beautiful Tuscan city. I loved exploring it at night. Pints of beer at an Irish pub. Huge pillows of ravioli at a tiny trattoria. Cake-flavored gelato in a random Tuscan square. In November. It was cold, but worth it. My entry for this week’s Photo Friday: Perspective.

Had To Get Away

TONAWANDA, NY — Listening to Baby Grand, a Sacramento-based indie/twee pop band and chilling at Panera. Today, I ran 4.17 miles in Lockport. It feels good to keep up with my 10K training on this vacation…especially with all the eating we’re doing. Last night, we toasted marshmallows at a bonfire and made s’mores.

Kansas Love

Aspera ad astra: “To the stars through difficulties.” That’s the state motto for Kansas. It’s also the name a fantastic indie band from Lawrence. Those words resonated with me as I lived and worked in Kansas. Kansas surprised me. For 2 years, I sampled anything the state had to offer. At a Topeka pub, I […]

A Little Dribble

Last week, we enjoyed a very happy hour in the Carneros Valley of Sonoma County. We introduced my mother-in-law to Domaine Carneros Winery. As a matter of fact, it’s our first visit to this beautiful location. So – Cheers! On our trips to downtown Sonoma, we always drive by this gorgeous Chateaux off Highway 12. […]

Guinness Is Always A Good Thing

Treating my mother-in-law to an Irish Pub in Sonoma. Watching the sunset in wine country.

Building up the Core

It hurts to laugh. My core muscles are so sore from last night’s yoga class in Davis. I also used those muscles to keep me upright on my double-toe jumps during this morning’s freestyle session at Vacaville Ice Sports. I’ve been off the ice for 4 months and it’s nice to know that I can […]

Stumbling on New Comfort Food

I’m enjoying my Sunday with some indie rock/pop/electronica on KSPC. This weekend, we started covering our bare white walls with posters from Casablanca and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. We also started hanging up pictures from our wedding day. I get all warm and fuzzy inside watching this space transform more into our home. My vampire shift […]
