Project 365

I have finished my Project 365 Challenge. Yah!!! I’ve taken pictures of food and drinks from May 24, 2007, to May 24, 2008.
It was an intense challenge. I admit I missed a few days. However, I think 377 photos in this collection show a complete pictures of our eating and drinking adventures.

My Oral Fixations blog has more details on the food and drinks featured in this challenge. Enjoy!

Lucky Birthday

Today, we wished Daisy a Happy Birthday! We sang to her and gave her a few slices of some birthday salami. Since she has a lucky b-day (8.8.08), we should probably buy some lottery tickets. We could use her dog tags to scratch off the numbers. Good times.

Today, she turns 3-years-old. That translates (roughly) to 28-years-old in human years.

But she’s still always be our cute puppy. I don’t think she knows how to act older. Sure, she has a mean streak, but that’s only because she wants to protect us. Other humans say she’s quite mellow at Camp and the Salon after we drop her off.

Last weekend, we hanged out at the Toad Hollow Dog Park in Davis. It’s huge and sometimes, Daisy loses track of her humans. Her face lights up when she figures out where I’m standing in the park.

The Strut

I’m looking for some fashion inspiration on another short story I’m working on and I stumbled on the web sites for Project Runway Winners.
Christian cracks me up. Underneath the outrageous attitude, he’s an incredibly talented designer.

I also requested to add him as a “friend” on MySpace. Fierce!

Baking in the sun

I managed to survive the Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival. I just finished up loading Saturday photo galleries for my work site. I ended up heading to a cafe to upload the first batch of pictures and then finished up the second batch at home. I got a kick out of using my dad’s Canon Rebel camera. It helped me fit in as I rubbed shoulders with the other photogs in the media pit in front of the stage.

I feel wiped-out but I’m also happy to help cover this positive concert experience. It’s been a long week and this music festival helped wipe away the stressful vibes.

Of course, I will post more on the sights, sounds and flavors of Wakarusa.

In the meantime, I updated my Project 365 photoblog and my podcast.

Going to bed.

Recovering

I still have a wicked headache from my cold. Grrr….
I’ve been babying myself - sleeping in until 10, eating well and watching plenty of TV. Mark has been an angel; taking care of Daisy and me.

And Daisy has been Daisy.

I launched a new Project 365 blog on my birthday. Oral Fixations will have a daily blog post on anything that goes into my tummy. Food or drink and/or both. I plan on sticking with this photoblog for one year. I think it will be a fun challenge, both as a blogger, shutterbug and as foodie who’s watching her waistline.

Wish me luck.

And now…what producers should not do to their on-air people.

Sure, it’s all fun and games until the cameras stop rolling. I’m sure Nancy Grace ripped into the producer after the show.

By the way, I think the animals humping bit was some liberal video editing by the YouTube user who posted the clip.

It’s My Birthday and I’m Sneezing

I turned 29 years old today.

I have a few minutes left on my birthday. And I’ve been sneezing, coughing and feeling dopey headed all day. I’m about to pop some Tylenol Cold pills and pray I can work tomorrow.

So, my body made an executive decision that I will not be partying on my birthday. I had lovely cards from family and co-workers, tasty cookies and gifts…but no booze. I guess it is truly the end of the line for my young adulthood.

Sigh.

Mark woke me up with these awesome gifts and cards from his family. Yes, that is a digital video camera. I can’t wait to post my new videos on this blog.

Mark took me out to the Brick Oven for lunch. This Berry Chocolate bag was my birthday cake. It tasted so rich and sweet.

I do have a new blog project for my 29th year. I will have more tomorrow…hopefully when I’m feeling better.

Cafe de la Paz

Good times at Cafe de la Paz. This Latin-American restaurant is one of my favorites in Berkeley. Nice servers, yummy food and delightful cocktails. When I lived in the Bay Area, we’ve lot’s of celebrations here, going away parties, graduation parties and any excuse for a big group of people to indulge in a huge plate of paella. We met-up with Betina, Hans and Nat during our last visit to Bear Territory.

A really cute fact about the kid: he’ll calm down and smile when Betina sings the Cal fight song. Too cute! He likes it when she get’s to “grrr-rah!”

His parents are both Cal grads….no pressure.

The world is screwing with me…

I wanted a cocktail and a decent omelette. That’s all. After my morning…was that too much to ask?

Apparently.

I ended up cracking an egg and it spilled on the floor and my pj’s.

Fuck this shit. It feels like the universe was crapping on me.

I recorded Amazing Race and Top Chef last night. I fast forwarded to Top Chef. I needed to see home. The chefs had to cater a wedding for two adorable guys and I loved watching something that reminded me of my own happy day. And what I love about the reality show - in comparison to the Apprentince, the Amazing Race, even my beloved Project Runway…Top Chef is all about the food. You can’t BS someone’s taste buds. I think that’s great! And it makes this show a fantastic test of culinary genius.

After finishing my lemon-pepper cheese omelette with smoked sausage and a couple of ginger-ale whiskey cocktails - I’m in a better mood.

Look what Daisy made at day care. She’s so talented! She used pawprints to make the sun and a doggie biscuit for the cow’s body. This work of art is hanging on our fridge.

I don’t have much time to spend on TV with Mark gone…my schedule is pretty discplined. I have to make sure Daisy gets her potty breaks and that she’s dropped off and picked up from day care…plus I need to make sure I get enough sleep during the day time.

So I picked three shows that I make time for - Top Chef on Bravo, Charmed on TNT, the Apprentice on NBC and the Amazing Race on CBS…these shows either have beautiful shots of home or other places I want to visit. The plots may be corny and contestants melodramatic beyond reality - but each show something I want to digest and get lost in…
