Colbert: Can’t stop laughing

I found this Meet the Press interview with Stephen Colbert via Laughing Squid. [From http://www.huffingtonpost.com] I like his point on reports showing young people getting their news from Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report. “I don’t think they would get the joke if they DIDN’T knew some of the news already.” – Stephen Colbert (Changed [...]

Put a smile on your face

One of the few pictures of me from our Vegas trip. I’m usually the gal behind the camera, silently shooting. My long weekend in Sin City feels like a lifetime ago. After working on the weekend shows, I suspect I’m ready for another vacation. I’d love another getaway with island cocktails and a luau, like [...]

It’s magic! Teller talks

I don’t think it’s hot enough in Cow Town. Time to spend our long weekend in a desert. Later today, we’ll be sipping cocktails in some swanky lounge. Sometime during this trip, we’ll enjoy home cooking with my family. Maybe Lady Luck will be my BFF as I visit the tables and slot machines. I [...]

Cool people humming along

I love this song. It’s the only song I know by Europe. But it’s awesome. It’s something you sing when you’re ready for something big… World Cup. Black Diamond Run at Squaw Valley. Election Day. Season premiere of Burn Notice. So – I also enjoy Freezepop’s version of this 80s anthem. Rock on. Rock on.

Celebrating Independence Day Early

Happy July 4th! I’m heading back to the newsroom in a couple of hours. So, I celebrated Independence Day early at Raley Field. It was so nice to watch the fireworks show at the ball park. Tonight, I’ll watch the other fireworks shows on a computer screen. Happy Fourth of July!

Bittersweet

Ignore my beer belly. My buddy and co-worker, Suzanne, shot me shooting all the amazing World Cup fans at the Graduate in Davis. Team USA did its best to take down Ghana in the so-called “Field of 16.” And for one glorious moment – it looked like we had a chance of moving on to [...]

Paint it all silver

My birthday gift from my hubby: Flight of the Conchord tickets. Joy! Last night, we sat in the same seats I had for graduation at the Greek Theater and watch the New Zealand duo rock my world. Sure, most concerts at the Greek are about the music. Last night, it was all about entertaining the [...]

Frodo, get on the dance floor

After work, I’m often bopping down I-80 with new music thanks to the “All Songs Considered” podcast. [From http://stepthroughtheportal.com/] The last episode reminded me of my college radio DJ days at Cal with a new track by Apples in Stereo, “Dance Floor.” Solid, glitchy riffs paired with sweet lyrics add up to a dance party [...]

Aural Exam

So – I’m trying to raise the bar on my social media videos. Over the weekend, I’ve invested in a new tripod. Since I’ve been use a lav mic that I’ve had since my college radio days at Cal, I’m now checking out new microphones. Here’s one that popped on my radar: Sony ECM-DS70P Electret [...]

Game Night

One of my favorite memories from my skating days: listening to the Zamboni crunch ice and rolling the ball over my initials on Centipede. I felt like kicking some butt on the ice after I see “KIS” next to the highest score on the screen. Guarding my blocky shooter and firing at the slithering centipede [...]
