The Last Days of Saturn

Viva my weekend.
I’m taking it easy for these last days of being 29-years-old.

Last month, we ended up in Lodi after the Stockton Asparagus Festival. An air-conditioned wine tasting at the Lodi Visitor’s Center helped revive us. The festival was fun but we were wiped out from walking through 100-degree weather and [...]

Crazy Weatherman. Period.

I stumbled on this video about a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.com from Laughing Squid. I think he’s insane.

I wonder how he treats tornadoes, flash floods and potentially life-threatening conditions in his weather forecast. I wonder.

Playing Hard

I’ve finished another action-pack week at work. My weekend morning shows were quite exciting with all the breaking news. On Saturday, our chopper got all that amazing flooding video. My boss kept calling back to our editors to make sure they were taping everything. Later, CNN and NBC picked up the video and used it [...]

Walking After Work

originally uploaded by queenkv.

We took advantage of the break in the rain and took Daisy for a walk. The creek behind our house filled up from this last storm. It’s a nice way to unwind from my crazy day inside the newsroom. Today was all about the weather. I ended up using our live chopper [...]

Stormy Weather

Our newsroom kicked into high gear over a trio of storms. On Friday, we were on the air with wall-to-wall severe weather coverage for 12 hours.

This tree fell outside of our station and it freaked me out on my way to work. Before sunrise, I couldn’t see the length of it and [...]

Almost Summer

In sickness and in health, Mark and I trudged through these last few weeks of a nasty little virus I picked up at work. We’re still trying to figure out who was Patient Zero in the newsroom. Outside of work, we took it easy - pampering each other and making sure we ate regular meals. [...]

A Long Week in Topeka

By Tuesday, it felt like a long week.
Floods, tornado, displaced residents and more add up to a crazy news week in Topeka. One the phone with some network folks in Chicago, they told me: “All the news in your region. You’re hogging it all.” I told her I wouldn’t mind spreading the love.
Really.
Last night, Mark [...]

Second round of storms claims tenth victim over weekend

It’s going to be a crazy day in the newsroom…I keep running into more pictures, video and stories of how this weekend’s tornado ripped Greensburg apart. As a journalist, it’s like hitting the gold mine for news. As a human being, my heart aches for the people down there.
On my digg profile, I linked [...]

Snowfall

Here’s what’s left of our snowstorm from last week. Some folks at work thought it would be a big deal. We had several school closings to report in the area — but it didn’t last long. I did not enjoy driving on the icy streets….so I took things nice and slow on the side streets. [...]

some business first…

ok…this is directed to friends and family:
I had to TURN OFF the comment section of this blog. Too many asshole spammers have flooded my site with their goddamn links…and I suspect it’s a bit of a strain for my domain. I’ve been getting nasty e-mails from the domain dudes about taking up too much of [...]
