Dreaming of Incanto

It’s been 6 months+ since we moved back to Northern California.
I think we’ve synched up nicely with the rhythm of life in Sacramento and the Bay Area. Last month, we checked out the farm team for the Oakland A’s, the Sacramento River Cats.

Flying Thru Soda Springs

originally uploaded by queenkv.

I loved snowboarding at Soda Springs. It felt like flying down the mountain! Now I want my own board. I can’t wait to go back and try a harder slope.

After the Storm

Right now, cicadas are singing outside. My co-worker’s kids love this big, flying bugs because they’re “crunchy.”
I am such a wuss when it comes to bugs.

It was hot and steamy in Topeka. We also got a few rounds of pounding rain. Last week, I snapped this picture of clouds outside of [...]

After Midnight

It’s a bad week. Stressed out co-workers, higher expectations…
Plus Mark’s leaving for California next weekend. I’m trying not to think about that.
We had planned on meeting up in the Bay Area — but I can’t take off from work. I’ve now been away from California for more than six months. It feels like it’s killing [...]

Snowfall

Here’s what’s left of our snowstorm from last week. Some folks at work thought it would be a big deal. We had several school closings to report in the area — but it didn’t last long. I did not enjoy driving on the icy streets….so I took things nice and slow on the side streets. [...]

Dreaming about palm trees…

Sigh…thinking about home puts me in a better mood. We may have snow on Wed and that puts me in a bitter mood. Snow is so overrated.
I had a doctor’s appointment today…she said I was a healthy young lady. I had a decent day at work. This weekend, I spend nearly eight [...]

It’s Cold in Topeka

“Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. It’s whether you let it harden or [...]

I Heart Home Cooking

It felt amazing to go home last weekend. It’s been almost year since I hopped on 57 East and drove across the country to my new gig in Kansas. Over the last year, I’ve visited San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland and Vegas….but last weekend was the first time in almost a year since I’ve stepped foot [...]

Fly

I miss California. It’s about 41 degrees in Topeka. That beautiful and sunny weekend in San Diego seemed like a dream….Jumping off a cliff and over the Pacific - surreal.

It was all Jennie’s idea and I’m so glad we did. We went through the Gliderport at Torrey Pines…a hop and skip away from her [...]
