Homecoming

I woke-up in Vacaville this morning. It’s wonderful to be back in California. I know it’s grey, raining and a little dreary outside…but I’m thrilled to be home.

I couldn’t have made this trip without Mark. He has been the road trip leader and our home provider. He’s been our rock. I’m grateful [...]

An Early Valentine Celebration

We got a late start to the weekend. We spent Friday night toasting one of my co-workers who’s moving on to bigger and better things. The farewell party involved lots of people, alcohol and dancing. It was the first time I went dancing in a while. Granted, it was in somebody’s living room and the [...]

Indulgent Flavors in Vegas

I wanted to try some Thomas Keller food for a while now. My choir director adored his tasting menu at the French Laundry in Napa, a while back. Then I read about Keller’s Vegas venue, Bouchon, in Anthony Bourdain’s book, The Nasty Bits. Bourdain was humbled by Keller’s technique and envious of his fries. Since [...]

Saying good-bye to my escape route from reality

Mark sent me this article about Act 1 & 2 closing down. It’s on Center St…close to Top Dog, a yummy Vietnamese restuarant, yummy burritos, Starbucks and more. It’s closing it’s doors this weekend.
I’m bummed. During my undergraduate years and my time at Haas, I checked out films by myself at this theater. I [...]

I got back from North Carolina on Thursday. I managed to make a good impression on the stations. I tasted the local specialities. I imagined myself living in the “Tarheel State” with Mark.

In the land of the hairy female armpits…

BERKELEY — Working on my resume tapes at Haas. The lab is closed for the weekend. We saw people walking to graduation ceremonies. I thought they didn’t have those on Sunday, but they do.
Yesterday - we ate a lot. Each time we spent time with friends - it was either for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
In [...]

two weeks left…

heading to Ireland soon…
I know I must have missed something….France…Italy…the Czech Republic….Damn…three months is not enough to do Europe….
I still wanted to hit Madrid, Amsterdam, Venice, Berlin, Athens…..I don’t think it’s going to happen in these last two weeks.
Let’s see….in Paris - I loved the little crepe stands open until the early morning hours….I loved [...]

spread the love

During my morning ritual of getting ready, drinking coffee (we bought a French Press coffee maker from Starbucks and love it very much) and web browsing…Mark woke up.
He was a bit perkier than me….
He leaned over and typed this into my Mozilla browser: Black People Love Us!
I giggled….I loved the concept….It’s an adorable site and [...]
