Go Cal!

So, my hubby got free tickets to the Cal v. Colorado State game. I love visiting my alma mater and cheering for the Bears.
It was also interesting to check out the trees left behind from the last tree sitters v police standoff. Yes, Cal left some trees standing.

About Job Creation

When I worked on the Noon Show on Monday, I saw Andrea Mitchell’s weekend wrap on the political news. She played a clip from a SNL parody on last week’s CBS Interview with Governor Palin. And she played it side-by-side, with the real interview by Katie Couric.

All Things Mario

So, I’m addicted to playing anything with Mario on our Wii. My dad gave it to us and we love it.
My hubby loves it a lot. And Daisy wonders why she can’t have her own Mii. I haven’t figured out how to make the Cocker Spaniel ears.
We’re having fun with bowling, tennis and [...]

I finished up a short, 2-day week, inside the newsroom.
Our weekend morning show features some interesting guests. We interviewed folks from the State Fair last month. One of them folded up dollar bills and made these cute origami pigs for us.
My anchor and meteorologist were tickled by the pigs. I said I could [...]

Musical Notes

We had the Alanis Crow Project on our morning show this week. They added a sophisticated, peppy vibe to their cover songs of Alanis Morissette & Sheryl Crow. Get it now? Alanis + Crow??? Obvious, I know.
Concert on the Patio from Kris Vera-Phillips on Vimeo.
They’re performing at this weekend’s Rhythm and Ribs at Raley Field. [...]

A Dog’s View on the RNC

The Race for the White House is on!
We are less than a month away from the first Presidential debate. In the control booth, I had fun working with all our live reports from the DNC in Denver and the RNC in St. Paul…Keeping up with all the juicy sound bites and timing out my morning [...]

Dreaming of Monterey

We picked the perfect time to visit Monterey Bay, just before the labor day crowds. In fact, on our way home last Saturday, we saw bumper-to-bumper traffic on the southbound lanes of 101 and the other highways leading into Monterey.
So, we were lucky.

We loved running by the bay, breathing in that ocean air as [...]

Playful and Cute

MONTEREY - It’s the last day of our vacation. I woke up at 5 AM and I felt relaxed. Typically, my body senses I slept in and sounds a panic alarm for being late for work. I suppose it will take a day or two before I sync up with my graveyard schedule.
On this [...]

3 Years

Today, Mark and I are celebrating our 3-Year Anniversary.
Yah.
In a few hours, we’re heading down to Monterey for vacation.
Joy!

8 years ago, we went on a thrift store scavenger hunt in San Francisco. It’s cool to see how our relationship developed: from being co-workers to now, as husband and wife. Love is cool!

They’re Smiling

I love driving by this beautiful sunflower field next to I-80 on my drive home from work.
Last week, I got off the freeway and took a closer look at these beautiful flowers. They looked so happy. It seemed like the blossoms were smiling back at me.

The sunflowers are blooming off the Midway Exit on [...]
