Exploring the other side of the rainbow

Dr. Horrible, Brilliant.

I am tickled that the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly has produced/directed/created this fantastic web series starring Doogie Howser.

A musical good time!

Another Taste of 007

The Bond film looks intense!

I’m also intrigued by a musical first for the Bond Series. The movie’s theme song will be performed as a duet by Alicia Keys and Jack White.

I still think Sean Connery’s the best 007. However, Daniel Craig has updated the British spy nicely for this millennium.

Here We Come!

COVINA, CALIF — Time flies when I back in So Cal with my family. We’re driving back to Nor Cal in a few hours.

I’m grateful many of them agreed to take a day off to sync up with my funky weekend schedule. My sleep schedule was also messed up. I’m sure I’ll be back to my graveyard existence in a day or so. Imagine me, walking around with the LA sun on my face and falling asleep at night with the hubby. It’s like I had a normal day job…or something.

A few brief notes on my weekend in So Cal before I head out for one more jogging excursion.

  • The 5.5-hour drive down I-5 felt like a piece of cake.
  • I ate too much good food. I also drank too much. Still, both activities are necessary and savored when I’m hanging out with my family. It’s a blessing to feel loved and accepted without the pressure of having to impress people and prove myself. Time outside of the newsroom can be a good thing.
  • Meeting up with a former Kansas buddy and comparing our post-Topeka notes. He lives in a fantastic part of West Hollywood and sounds content.
  • Running next to the Pacific was a dream come true. I loved breathing the ocean hair and leaving my shoe prints in the sand. Mark said it best, it was a recharging experience.
  • Jennie, Scott and Kai! Yah!!!! I missed them so much! Kai likes to jump around and may be he would get along with Daisy. Then again, maybe not. Still, the humans had a fun and challenging time at the Lucky Strike Bowling alley at the Block. I shot some video with the Flip Camera and will post it in a bit.
  • I loved the Mozart concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Beautiful music, balmy weather and an iconic LA setting.

No matter where we go - for work, school or pleasure - I feel my roots draw me back to So Cal.

As always, I wish I could stay longer.

Back to My College Radio Roots

Earlier this month, we checked out the Davis music scene with a KDVS concert. One of my favorite bands from my KALX days, Casiotone of the Painfully Alone, headlined the $5 concert at on the UC Davis campus.

LA-Based Foot Foot opened up the show.

I was tickled to watch Ron Burgundy interview the most distinguished anchorman of our time at Radio City Music Hall during the Funny or Die tour.

Cooking Together

originally uploaded by queenkv.

We made a yummy dinner for Valentine’s Day. Mark cooked this yummy linguini with clams in a white wine sauce. I did salmon wrapped with Italian ham slices. It was fun to cook together. We ended dinner with a dance set to the music rolling for the end credits of Sixteen Candles.

Another Love Song

My hubby and I noticed Sara Bareilles has been popping up on the radio more frequently. He doesn’t get the hype, but I’m quite tickled to see her career take-off.

I fell in love with her music more than 2 years ago at a Hurricane Katrina Concert in Hollywood.

Bareilles was thrilled when she heard her song on the FM Dial…

Monday morning is here and I miss the weekend already. People are popping in and out of the newsroom - many trying to catching up on vacation before November sweeps.

This video put a smile on my face! Mark and I danced around to the music. Daisy jumped up and down, trying to keep up with the funky beats.

links for 2007-09-17

OK — this is a new thing I’m trying out. I kicked started the daily blog feature on my del.icio.us account. That means all the links I’ve bookmarked for the day will be posted around 10:00 PM, nightly. I thought it was kinda neat to have that coincide with my newscast. Basically, these are links to stories and blogs that have caught my eye and make me wonder…about stuff.

We’ll see how this works out.
