The leaves are changing color in Vacaville. I think we’ll have more vibrant colors as we get closer to winter.
I’m looking forward to a consistent schedule as my newsroom heads into November Sweeps. As soon as I get over my sore feet from my 1st 5-mile run, I plan on repeating that run in [...]

I’m jiggy with Latin chanting and Communion rituals. I feel like I belong when I participate in a Catholic mass - no matter the state, language or country. So, Sunday mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament was another initiation for me into the city of Sacramento.

Today, Luciano Pavarotti died.
As I was driving around, I had it tuned to 580 News and then I heard this wonderfully haunting song, “Nessun Dorma.” It’s an aria from the final act of Puccini’s opera Turandot and the 3 Tenors made it immortal.
The opera world has lost one of it’s greatest stars today.
I remember [...]

It’s snowing now and we’re waiting to see if it’s cold enough to stick on the ground.
Back from my Christmas vacation to Vegas, LA and San Francisco. I felt relaxed with my break from work and my graveyard hours. I caught up with my friends in the Bay Area, traded gifts with my family and [...]

I’m used to celebrating Thanksgiving with a lot of people. This year, I had the folks who mattered most to me in Topeka - inside the kitchen: Mark and Daisy. We had a lovely holiday. In the tradition of my working experience, we did a Thanksgiving lunch. Sometimes I thought having to work on the [...]

Ah tasty Zen Zero…we took one of my co-workers to this Asian fusion joint last Friday. She’s from SF and she had a craving for Thai food.
I had the Massaman Curry - a coconut curry dish from southern Thailand with potatoes and peanuts. I ordered the beef version. It was hearty and it [...]

Last month, we went to the LA County Fair. I have some fond memories of the fair….my dad took my friends and I to the fair. I remember all that yummy fried food, fast rides [...]

Well…I think I figured out this whole podcasting business….I found a free podhosting site: blipmedia.org….My profile doesn’t show up…but it took my first podcast show: “Queenkv Getting Digital.”
I mixed the music and VO tracks with audacity. It’s pretty user friendly…and it exports the project files into MP3.
So - this is kinda how my [...]

Just sat through the reading of the Micahel Jackson verdict. All the networks carried live footage. Soap Operas were interrupted. According to CNN - German, Japanese and Mexican stations had booths set-up with the rest of the media circus.
With the crowd and the extreme number of cops - I was a little worried [...]

When we moved to Covina, Mark wondered what was in the hills - to the north. I told him I never been up there….only up to the San Bernadino Mountains…where I used to train.
Mark did some research and found a path up to the hills. We drove up the hills [...]
