Oh yeah baby….this is our stop before heading to Paris…we left O’Hare yesterday and took SAS (Scandinavian Airlines)….great deal and wonderful service….
It’s been more than decade since my last visit to Europe. This is my first time traveling to Europe as an adult….it’s Mark’s first trip to Europe. Hell, it’s our first time in Stockholm.
It was a thrill to pass through the passport gate and have the dude stamp my new passport (I thought I lost mine during the summer and paid too much money to get it replaced…of course, I found the old one)
Blogging from the airport terminal…only 2 Euros for one hour…the machine had a coin stuck and a nice traveler let me take the last half hour on his account.
Mark’s playing with the Medill digital camera….Prof. Angotti got permission for me to take the camera and tripod for a documentary/behind the scenes look at our global program. We have two weeks in Paris – meeting journalists and officals and cool people. Then we head for our separate assignments all over the world…from London to India and more…
I couldn’t sleep the night before the flight. I was up until 3 AM – working on the frontdesk schedule for Haas and composing the first of many e-mails to my bridal party.
Nervous, excited, anxious and impatient. I managed to get some sleep on the plane but my body is whacked from all the alcohol consumed and the lack of rest….I get little chills when I think about being thousands of miles away from the US and California….my parents visited this weekend…my mom had more tears in her eyes when she said good-bye….it looks like the further I get away from home…the more my mother cries.
Mark and I photocopied our passports and other docs….we emptied out my fridge and dumped all the extra dorm possesions on the free bench in Engelhart.
Evanston and Chicago seem like a dream….what is this Cali girl going to do in Europe? How am I going to survive? Well…with Mark by my side….we’re going to have this amazing adventure….planning on taking advantage of cheap flights to other European countries….I want to expand my mind and drink in all experiences…from the Seine to the Thames.
Like Sabrina…maybe I’ll find myself in Europe….then again, I’m also happy with what I have so far….
