my QT friend recomended the South Beach diet to me….I bought the big blue book and I did my best to stick with for the last week and a half. I had to take a little break from the diet and my lent promise to avoid meat this weekend….since the family we stayed with in western PA – were carniovres and carb-addicts…well, I didn’t want to be a burden in face of all the meals they had planned for us. Ribs, potatoes, bread, lot’s of bread, pancakes, pot roast…good stuff.
So, I got back on the diet on Tuesday….and then I came down with something wicked in my throat last night. My head felt like it was going to explode and I had hot and cold chills…sheesh. It started snowing this morning. Mark drove me to the newsroom…what a sweetie! Thank you Mark! We stopped at Au Bon Pain for coffee. I knew I needed some breakfast since I’m heading to Arlington this morning for a shoot. So, I broke the diet rule and got a cheese bagel for breakfast….
I think the South Beach diet worked for me…saw some difference on the scales. Lord knows I don’t have a good handle on my self-image. I tried on wedding dresses last January and my mom said I should lose some weight. I agreed but thought I should lose a lot of weight – not just some. I suppose that’s why I’ve been reluctant to try on dresses – I want to imagine myself thin and beautiful. I don’t want to look at my chunky arms and my beer belly. Issues. I have issues.
Hey, don’t give up! I’m back up four pounds the last two weeks because of V-day and my mom’s guest, but I’m getting back on on Monday. And meat ain’t bad for yah! (Though I prefer fish.) If yah can’t do the strict phase, skip to phase two. It’s slower loss, but it’s so much easier. I have days of phase one, but I’m mostly phase two. But, yah, it gives yah results fast–provided you are feeding yourself and not the guest of a (processed/enriched/bleached) carb fiend. Mozz sticks, ricotta cheese, and quiche cups are your friends! Snack, snack, and snack s’more! Signed your QT who is seeing results everyone BUT her damned breasts. (I think I’m stuck at a freakin’ D.) I’m gonna be like Erin Brokavitch in the Chicago newsroom this spring. Woo! Anyway, if yah need moral support, you know how to reach me!
As a certain green Grover-like voiced, muppet once advised ‘Control, control. You must learn control.’ Or its twin sister, discipline. Each little ‘I broke the diet rule’ adds up … A combination of exercise, staying away from processed food (if it didn’t come from nature that way, it’s processed), and tons of water/tea … Not to mention watching your portions when eating out (don’t eat everything the restaurants serve you, that’s not ‘one serving’) If you notice, asians typically don’t get too large because their diets are *primarily* seafood, vegetables+fruits, and they drink tea (good for metabolism). It’s cow, bread products, and processed sugars (candy, soda, many juices) that lead to fattening. Diet discipline can lead to weight loss, exercise helps body tonage and weight loss. On paper, it’s simple .. burn more calories than you take in.
Tough Love Jedi (because someone has to be it, because I care, because Mark, as bf is never allowed to critique 😉 )
