LAWRENCE — I could not resist posting parts of this guide from www.kansasmorons.com. The guide also comes in a PDF file.
I remember how my biology teacher at a Catholic high school kicked off her section on evolution. She started with a disclaimer of sorts. She said she understood that she was teaching something that didn’t exactly synch up with the Bible’s creation story. She expressed respect for the majority’s Christian faith (we had a few Hindu students in that class). She also pointed out that this is a science course and she planned on teaching scientific issues. She said she was willing to talk about faith and science with folks who wanted to outside of the classroom. Then she launched into the evolution lesson. Before the high school, I’ve attended private schools and public schools. It was the first time I’ve seen a teacher do this. I thought it was odd that my teacher felt she needed to do this. She impressed me with her straight-forward manner.
Thirteen years later, I’m in a state where science teachers will probably have to launch into a similar disclaimer.

Excerpts from “Intelligent Design: (the options are endless)”
Babalonian Intelligent Design
The god Marduk arms himself and sets out to challenge the monster Tiamat. Marduk destroys Tiamat, cutting her into two halves which become the Earth and the sky. Later on, he also destroys Tiamat’s husband, Kingu, and uses his blood to create mankind.
Buddhist Intelligent Design
“Conjecture about the world is an unconjecturable that is not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness & vexation to anyone who conjectured about it.”
Chinese Taoist Monk Intelligent Design
The universe begins as a cosmic egg. A god named Pangu, born inside the egg, broke it into two halves: The upper half became the sky, the lower half became the earth. As the god grew taller, the sky and the earth grew thicker and were separated further. Finally the god died and his body parts became different parts of the earth.
Egyptian Intelligent Design
Atum arose from the primordial waters and masturbated to relieve his loneliness. His semen and breath became Tefnut (moisture) and Shu (dryness), respectively. From Shu and Tefnut, were born Geb (earth), and Nuit (sky), who were born in a state of permanent copulation. Shu separated them, and their children were Ausare (Osiris; death), Set (desert), Aset (Isis; life), and Nebet Het (Nephthys; fertile land). Osiris and Isis were a couple, as were Nepthys and Set.
Inca Intelligent Design
Con Tiqui Viracocha was the creator. He was in the form of a man, without bones. He made men and women out of stone. Incidentally all the women he made, were pregnant at the time of their creation (it took more stone to make them, but you’ve got to think ahead when you’re the creator). He then created the earth, food, creatures and everything else. The ungrateful humans eventually rebelled, and then a new god named Pachacamac, came and overthrew Con, and turned all of his people into monkeys. (Darwin must have had it backwards.) Pachacamac took control of the
earth, and eventually created our ancestors.
