LAWRENCE — I’m almost finished with my overnight shifts at the news center. I managed to sleep in until 1:00 pm. I suppose my sleep schedule is screwed for the rest of the week. C’est la vie.
I found this adorable poem about the Sunflower State from Modwestern. Garrison Keillor wrote the poem.
Here’s an excerpt from Keillor’s “Kansas Rap”.
Kansas is God’s way of suggesting
Life doesn’t have to be interesting.
He was busy elsewhere fighting sin.
When he created Kansas, he phoned it in.
The land is flat, the wind is blowing,
And we’re halfway to anywhere you’re going.
But if we seem sleepy or in a coma
You know, we’re looked up to by Oklahoma.“
