Of all the weekends to screw-up, why did my Cal Bears pick this one? Anybody?
I wonder how far Cal will sink in the rankings.
No. 2 Cal Shocked by Oregon State
“Yvenson Bernard leaped into the end zone on fourth down from the 1 with 8:30 remaining and Oregon State delivered the latest shocker in an upset-filled season, beating the second-ranked Golden Bears and backup quarterback Kevin Riley 31-28 Saturday.
We are still in the top 10! This means we are doing well. BCS is a biased poll that NO ONE takes seriously. Especially this early on in the season. There is still a lot of football to be played. When they make it to the Rose Bowl and you are driving in from Sacramento you will be smiling. 🙂 They still got it and they will be there this year!
On a side note, does Daisy have a Halloween costume?
That.s right. let’s all be positive. Remember,we were Numero 1 for at least e hours.
2 hours!
We were not #1 for any hours. I am absolutely appalled that some Cal fans at the game claimed that. That is crime #1 against the woofing gods. Bad karma. Any pre-Tedford fan knows to never count their chickens, etc. before business is officially taken care of. The current n00bs know so little about having their heart broken. They oughta brush up on their history about the last time Cal started 5-0 …
Honestly, I was making a toast with few CAL fans when LSU lost.
You’re right Wes. I spoke too soon. It’s probably my fault.
Ok, Wes, I realize that during the coaches era whose name I will not mention lots of people were heart broken. What Dad meant was that we were capable of being number one for a couple of hours.
The Bears will come back watch and see. Just like I told everyone that Kentucky would beat LSU the Bears will bounce back from this and have a successful year.
As far as counting chickens before the eggs hatch, I don’t do that either. Regardless, I think that the Bears will be successful and that staying positive is the best way to be.
I share some responsibility, too. I was down in LA for a wedding and I razzed some of the plentiful $c fans at the hotel before our game. Also bad karma. In any case, I think a top 5 ranking is kinda deadly this year (South Florida biting the dust last night). As a half-cynical Cal fan, I’d much rather fly below the national radar. We’ll hope for a good rebound, one game at a time, starting with UCLA.
At this point, as a Golden Bear fan, the biggest thing to look forward to is better luck next season. However, short of that, I’m looking forward to the Bears spanking the ‘Furd so hard they’ll WISH they were losing to UC Davis again.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch (you didn’t think I would say the Farm, did you?), a great pre-Big Game Top 10 list was posted today. Check it out:
