I love driving by this beautiful sunflower field next to I-80 on my drive home from work.
Last week, I got off the freeway and took a closer look at these beautiful flowers. They looked so happy. It seemed like the blossoms were smiling back at me.
The sunflowers are blooming off the Midway Exit on I-80. This is also our first stop in Vacaville when we moved back to the Golden State in December. Daisy did her business next to this field more than 8 months ago. It looked barren back then. Now it looks like a little bit of Daisy helped make this sunflower field grow.
As always, it’s been a crazy month or two or three at work. It felt good to stand next to the sunflowers. Something about the bright colors and the warm sunshine made me feel better after another long shift in the newsroom.
Our political coverage’s kicking into high gear with the Democratic Convention and then next week’s Republican Convention. We just wrapped up our live coverage from the Summer Olympic Games. I was tickled with our live reports from our morning anchor in Beijing.
I suppose food and sleep are the big challenges of my overnight shift. Sometimes I forget to eat and sometimes I can’t sleep. People tell me I’m young and that I can handle the hours. They’re probably right but I don’t know how I’d pull-off a 1 AM to 10 AM shift and raise kids.

In the meantime, I take advantage of my weekends with the hubby. We had a blast at the State Fair last week. Good times.
Urine has applications in gardening and agriculture as a fertilizer. Gardeners often recommend a dilution of 10-20 parts water to one of urine for application to cannabis plants and flower beds during the growing season; undiluted urine can chemically burn the roots of some species. Urine typically contains more than 50% of the nitrogen and phosphorus and potassium content of whole sewage, and is widely considered as good as or better than commercially-available chemical fertilisers or stabilised sludge from sewage plants. Urine is also used in composting to increase the nitrogen content of the mulch, accelerating the composting process and increasing its final nutrient values.
I guess you’re right.Daisy has something to do with these beautiful sunflowers..
