IXTAPA — Finished up taking pictures of the cutest little white kitten, ever. Mark said if he was a vet and had injections – he’d clean up the kitty and take it home with us.
We went to Petalan today. We saw how a family business made bricks by hand. We visited the church at Petalan where people crawled on their knees to pay God back for granting their miracles. It was amazing to get away from the tourist spots and the time share hawks. Yeah, those agressive dudes are all over the place in Ixtapa.
Yesterday, we visited Isla Ixtapa. It’s a five minute boat ride from Playa Linda. We also ran into some pretty agressive resturant people. Some tried to rope us into a tour of the island. We walked on our own and they left us alone, eventually. I guess we had a sign like “fresh tourist meat” stenciled on our backs.
We sat on the coral beach and I waded into the waters. Groper fish swam up to my knees. It reminded me of my family’s vacation to Hawaii. I also had tirista – slivers of raw fish marinated in lime juice, onions and chilis. Yum. Local fisherman invented the dish as a simple snack to get them through the work day. I loved it. We think the place we ate at was called “Indio.”
I can’t believe we have only one more full day in Paradise. Such a shame…I know Mark’s looking foward to eating without fear. He said when he get’s back to the States, he can eat whatever he sees.
