I got some time on hands, so I did a few more CD reviews for the station.
Kid606 – Resilience
It’s a more mature album. For the early tracks, Kid606 focuses on creating lush texture soundscapes. It’s a sharp contrast to the loud and frenetic acid/house/techno mixes from his earlier albums. In fact, it’s nothing like his mix during this July electronica concert at Koo’s. Mark mentioned something about the music being so loud and intense that his felt like their were bledding. Good stuff. Mellow music is also good. Most of the tracks on Resilience are laidback, melodic and catchy – something I didn’t expect from Kid606. According to the Tigerbeat6 Review – all the songs were composed either at home or on tour, “from the isolated coldness of Stavenger, Norway to the claustrophobic heat of Athens, Greece.” It’s a lovely album – play it often. Resilience was released on Tigerbeat6

Bottom of the Hudson – Holiday Machine
Another decent indie rock album by Bottom of the Hudson. Some tracks take you on the melancholic trip down to 1990’s memory lane. Other tracks toss back some sass and attitude – jangly guitars and semi-ironic lyrics. It’s not a masterpiece, but it should mix in nicely with Guided by Voices, Pavement, Sebadoh.
Holiday Machine was released on Absolutely Kosher Records.
