We drove out to Kansas City last Saturday. Part of the city is in Kansas and the other part is in Missouri. It was like driving from Covina to Vegas….but faster. It took us about 50 minutes to cross the state border.
Folks at the station recomended the Plaza. OK – there’s two Plaza shopping centers. We ended up at the Country Club Plaza – which had a sweet Christmas light display at night. I enjoyed Kansas City. I felt comfortable among the high-rise apartment buildings. Maybe I’m a city girl at heart.
It was a beautiful day – warm and sunny. We ended up walking around without our jackets. The Plaza had plenty of high-end stores, Armani and the like….plus an Apple Store. We were content window shopping and eating. We had some tasty Mexican food at Baja 360. They had tiki torches burning around the patio seating area. We dipped inside Better Cheddar and sampled a lot of cheese. I loved my cookie bit dipped in clotted cream with brandy and jam. The first time I tasted clotted cream was at high tea in London. It’s light, sweet and rich. I looked around for clotted cream in American grocery stores with no luck. So inside this cheese store, I bought my own bottle of clotted cream.

We saw Rent. An entertaining film – good acting and wonderful music. It felt a bit dated. I wish they could have made and released the film several years earlier.
Here’s the Plaza at night. Little girls did the princess-thing inside these carriages.
