It’s gloomy outside, but I could already feel the warmth of Mark’s hug. I’m already in San Francisco, drinking in the beautiful Christmas lights. I’m already tasting the amazing selection of food and drinks in the city by the bay.
At work, nothing could really get me down. On the police scanner this morning – a world of violence errupted in the Capital City – car accidents, fights, a pistol whipping and a stabbing at a local bar. But I’m already laughing with my friends in the Bay Area and being welcomed home by my family in So. Cal.
During my show, someone said he hated LA – in response to my giddiness over my trip. He said he was glad I have family in LA, to make the visit bearable. Normally that would bum me out. But since I’m getting out of here – that comment melted off my back a pesky snowflake. It’s a shame when people think Kansas is the be-all and end-all of the universe.
I’m escaping the Bible Belt and I’m going home for one blessed week – where there are people who look like me and have open minds.
I guess I’m already there…sometimes in my head…I wonder if I ever left…
Who the fuck said that? Kansas has its perks, but it most certainly is NOT that much better than L.A.
Have fun on your trip! And ignore the hell out of us back here in Oz.
