It’s snowing now and we’re waiting to see if it’s cold enough to stick on the ground.
Back from my Christmas vacation to Vegas, LA and San Francisco. I felt relaxed with my break from work and my graveyard hours. I caught up with my friends in the Bay Area, traded gifts with my family and caught Jerry Seinfeld at Caesar’s. Also gained a little weight from all too much good food. I just wanted to taste all the flavors that I can’t get in the Bible Belt of Kansas. So my first New Year’s Resolution — hit the gym as a soon as possible.
My vacation was also a little exhausting. We did a six-hour drive from San Francisco to LA. We did a four-hour drive from LA to Vegas. I tried to cram plenty of cool experiences into my week aways from work. Naturally, I have too many pictures and I’ll get around to posting them soon.
It’s the last day of 2006. We’ve lived in Kansas for more than a year – exploring the sights, flavors and sounds of the Midwest. I’ve hit my year-anniversary at work….living like a vampire and producing our morning news show. I even managed to a visit another country this year. 2007 is just around the corner and I’m looking forward to another rocking year – working hard and playing harder. Before the ball drops in the Little Apple- here’s another look a 2006.
She’s a cutie and she knows it. Daisy joined our family in 2006. She’s a crazy dog and she likes to bark at people. Somehow, she wormed her way into our hearts and she’s my baby.
I helped launch our news operation in Topeka, Kansas. It was cool to be able to do something fresh and to be free of the curse of following in anybody’s footsteps.
It’s amazing to work with such talented news people — from Kansas and from around the U.S.
We celebrated our one-year anniversary as a married couple in August. Our family in New York made us a cake for the reunion. This year, we managed to visit another country, Niagara Falls, Canada. Sure…everyone speaks English and it looks like Niagara Falls, NY. But it’s still another country to explore. We’ve been together since August 2000 and I’m blessed to have Mark in my life.
We continued to explore our new home state in 2006. We checked out local favorites, like this corn maze at Gary’s Berries. We also drove more than three hours west to see the largest ball of twine in the world. I still feel a little funny being the only Filipina at church, at work and pretty much anywhere in Kansas. But I’m happy I’m not alone and Mark has such a great attitude for exploring. We end up visiting more places in and around the Capital City, more so than native Topekans.
Jennie and Scott got married this year. YAHHHHH!!!!! And it was lovely to see them and to have David back from Iraq. In addition to celebrating a new marriage, we also celebrated having our family back together.
And most importantly, our news station rocked for 2006. The Kansas Association for Broadcasters named our station best news cast for the year. Neato.
Happy New Year’s!
My, what a year you’ve had! I posted a very similar year in review on my livejournal, if you’d like to read.
Your new year’s resolution should be to come to Lawrence more often, because it’s a lot more fun than Topeka. Yeesh!
