We drove down Highway 1 after my graveyard shift. I took a nap. I woke up when traffic forced our car to stop by the Pacific.
I love waking up to ocean views.
Our TGIF goals for Santa Cruz:
It was a tasty, beautiful ending to my work week.
It felt like we escaped the daily grind during this beach hike at Wilder Ranch.
This is my entry for the Weekly Photo Challenge: Escape.
Our weekend getaway: Camping in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Our wedding gift from our co-workers still rocks. It still kept us warm and cozy on our overnight stay at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Just like our first trip with it to Lake Perry in Kansas.
Our buddy Scott took care of the gourmet camp cuisine, just like our first camping trip in Scotts Valley. Mark sliced up the tri-tip.
Colleague: “You should join me for the Off the Grid food truck event by Fort Mason.”
Another Colleague: “I’d love to see you at our karaoke party in JapanTown.”
Evite: “Host wanted to remind you about (insert friend’s name) birthday coming up.”
I hit the “unavailable” button on the Evite page.
My response: “I wish I could but I can’t.”
My reason: I’ll be sleeping at that time because I need to be back in the newsroom by midnight.
I live in a separate time stream from my friends, family and co-workers. Most people think Friday night is the perfect night to hang out, discover new food spots and catch-up.
It’s just another work day for me.
When I was scheduled to work on a Sunday, I decided to make the most out of my short weekend. So, my hubby and I tagged along on a camping trip to Scotts Valley.
Our camping partners, Scott and Catalina, showed us how to enjoy the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in style.
This marked our first camping trip since Perry Lake. For this weekend, Scott and Catalina helped us expand our dining options from instant ramen to fresh pancakes.
