on college ave – there was this delightful cafe serving “farmer’s food” – the red tractor cafe….mark and i went down there for lunch and it closed for good
….it’s changing locations to the 925 area code – Dublin….
and it makes me sad 🙁
this place had yummy, hearty, down-to-earth food. ok – i don’t know much about farm food – i’ve never been to a farm. well, i’ve been to one in the Philippines, but over there, we had fish ponds and salt ponds, and so it’s different.
in any event, the red tractor satisfied by fantasies of home-cooking on the farm. the portions were big and the side dishes were also tasty. my favorite dish was the “real meatloaf” platter with garlic mash potatoes and macroni and cheese. one of my friends would make fun of me for ordering such an ordinary dish – “meatloaf is something you can make at home…” – well not me. don’t have a clue or a recipe to make meatloaf. besides, the red tractor cafe made a yummy dish of it – it was meaty, with a flaky texture….and totally filling. i know it’s not the best dish for my ediets….but in moderation, yes? and the cheese biscuits were always moist and warm and fluffy…..
not like i got much of a choice – talk about going cold turkey!
now that I think about it – I remember the red tractor’s new location – it’s at this shopping center with a snazzy Regal Cinema – off the 580 Freeway….we stop there often on our trip to the 5, down to LA…good grief, I don’t think I can make a trip out to Dublin, for my cheese biscuits! Too much traffic.
still it was a beautiful day, the sun was warm enough to ward off my windy chills and the Crepevine was a delicious alternative
I adore the New Orleans Bennedict dish, with crab cakes and a zesty cajun sauce…but today I wanted a salad…trying to be healthy. The “savory” crepes come with a side of salad and potatoes, so I went with the Sante Fe Crepe – the chicken apple sausage wasn’t as heavy as I thought it would be….and I licked my plate clean….
The Red Tractor Cafe in Dublin, CA at Hacienda Crossings, once a beacon of light in mid-priced, family-valued, kid-friendly, wholesome restaurant, is now a lie, sham, and fraud due to the immoral and sociopathic behavior of its current President/CEO Todd Ohanian.
Mr Ohanian’s behavior is inconsistant with a “kid-friendly”, “family-value”, “wholesome” restaurant and the Boycott Red Tractor Cafe Campaign calls on a boycott of the cafe until this immoral sociopathic individual is removed or steps-down as the President/CEO of Red Tractor Cafe.
Please visit the boycott website at: http://boycottredtractorcafe.org
I know for a fact that the negative comments are posted by the ex. It’s a smear campaign from Rick who obviously has nothing better going on in his life. Todd Ohanian is a wonderful person. I’ve known him for close to 20 years.
