battlestar galatica is funny looking in 2003…..the series started up in 1978…it’s as old as me! in a sense, i suppose, if it actually kept running until now….but not really…..does this make sense?
“There are those who believe… that life here… began out there. Far across the universe. With tribes of humans… who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians… or the Toltecs… or the Mayans… that they may have been the architects of the Great Pyramids… or the lost civilizations of Lemuria… or Atlantis… Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man… who even now fight to survive… somewhere beyond the heavens.”
still feeling a bit under the weather…i almost passed out in front of my computer yesterday. i was worried and i allowed my body to be subjected to a bunch of tests to figure out what the hell happened….still waiting back for the results. i suspect it was nothing more than eye strain…..
where was i…..in los angeles. we left on sunday….david had to leave early, for a road march in bellflower….he was suited up in army gear for it. we came down to la on the 101 and it was lovely to drive next to the pacific….on our way back, time was more of a priority – so we went up the five…
after the grapevine – we came to a screeching halt on the five…we stayed there for about 30 minutes or so….people were getting out of the cars…it was hot out….it was the first time i ever walked on a freeway…..i was running around like a dork that day….quite trippy…..a couple walked up the middle of the two-lane highway – taking pix….another guy took his dog out for a walk.
david, jennie, and i had this thing we did when we drove on highways – everytime we came to a stop. or when it was practically empty on the road – we’d stop the road and touch the highway. i’ve touched the 57, 60, 5, 101, 80, and 580……i even touched the bay bridge.
and this time, i got to walk on the five….
until the CHP yelled at us to get back in our cars….
but i came back to work with the news that one of my student workers suffered from a brain aneurysm – a vein ruptured in her brain. She didn’t have any prior conditions for this and she was quite healthy. Her friend informed me that she went into surgery last week and was listed in critical condition. According to the doctors, my student worker will pull through, however, her recovery will take some time. It’s such a shame since she was suppose to graduate from UC Berkeley this May.
