last night, on KTVU…I watched a news piece about Syria and all the speculation about another American military offensive on this “terroist” state.
several American politicans used some pretty heavy language about Syria and it’s alleged ties to Iraq…..the story used one video clip of the Syrian Foreign Minister protesting the American allegations. He demanded to see the evidence for their allegations…..“where is the evidence?”
hate to break to ya, but I don’t think the U.S. needs to present any evidence to attack another country….thanks to this current offensive on Iraq, the United States has shown that it has absolutely no respect for the United Nation’s authority, no respect for the international community, and doesn’t care about the thousands of American people protesting his decision….
it’s quite disheartening to come to that conclusion…..but that’s how I see it.
I am so disappointed in our government…allegedly an authority governed by the people and for the people. I don’t see myself being represented in decisions being made in the white house and on capitol hill. if Bush doesn’t even care about what the protestors are saying, what other recourse do they have to be heard? to have their opinions be taken seriously? what chance does the average American have to influence policy if the head of state doesn’t give a damn about what he/she has to say?
last dec, I interviewed Barabra Sonneborn for kalx. we talked about the possible military mobilization. i asked her if she felt like she had access to our current government – if she had the ablity to be heard by our politicans. she said no, not on the national level. Yes, Congeresswoman Barbara Lee has made it clear by her voting record, especially after 9/11….so, Sonneborn felt at least on the local level – politicans are in touch with their constituencies.
I think about what she said now, in the face of the war mongering in this country…it certainly feels like I don’t have a voice. and that the head of state doesn’t give a shit about me.
solution – ok all you third party supporters – vote DEMOCRAT! do you know how close that florida voting fiasco came down to? a frickin’ 1000 votes! do you think we’d been in this situation now if bush had lost? I’m not saying that Gore was anybody’s favorite, but give me a break, I don’t think he would have pissed off tthe rest of the international community and invade Iraq with texas rifles blazing. I want to encourage a third party candidate to become part of our mainstream voting choices…..but if it comes down a strategic voting choice on another close bush vs. democrat candidate – i’m going to vote in favor of keeping bush out of office – and that means choosing the frickin’ democratic candidate (as long as he’s not too off his rocker)
speaking about voting….looks like there might be a vacancy for governor of California….i figured I might as well throw my hat into the ring….if I understand this correctly: if the recall is successful – then somebody has to be elected – not necessarily the runner-up from the last election. I think that means a write-in arrangement…so…I may be starting up my own internet write-in campaign…
would you vote for queenkv for governor?
