i produced the first part of our Headline News show….on at 10 PM on Evanston Cable……
not bad…..sure, we had our usual round of technical fuck-ups – but I did everything I could think of to turn in a decent show. I also e-mailed another broadcast student who just graduated. He had some great advice.
I feel better – I’m not incomptent. I can do this…..and it feels awesome.
let’s see….what happened?
saw fireworks on Sunday night….went up to a party at a student’s apartment – he’s on the 31st floor and has an amazing view to the west….we saw a couple dozen firework shows from several IL counties. Sure, you didn’t have the patriotic tunes going on, but that’s ok. i’m happy to see fireworks…..and they don’t disappear into the SF Bay fog – which rolls in everytime I try to catch the fireworks show at Pier 39.
went shopping for new suits and make-up….thanks to a fab Lord and Taylor’s sale and a gift certificate from my parents – I only paid $27 for three new suits. (each suit, at regular price = $119 to $130). then I dropped a hundred dollars on Mac make-up. Shit. yeah…..I may want to produce, but for my grade – I need to try my hand at everything – from anchoring to reporting….next Tuesday, I’m on the anchor desk. Kinda creepy….kinda wierded out by my crooked teeth….and I still sound like a 12-year-old newscaster…..I’m working on it. I’m trying to read the paper, out loud, everyday. I’m trying to get my voice lower…..and then I have to worry about my face….
…damn studio lights pick up everything – so I have to wear foundation and concealer and more crap…..then they told me to pluck my eyebrows….damn….is there something wrong with my brows? Do I have a uni-brow thing going on here?
Ok…we’ll that’s all I have to do there.
Saw Spideyman 2 on Sunday, before the fireworks. It was better than the first one….
also bought tickets to Paris and lined up housing for our Paris stay in Sept….really cheap tickets…..if you fly on Sept. 10 and land on Sept. 11 – you can go to Paris from Chicago for around $300. Mark didn’t feel comfortable doing that – plus he already told the rental people we’d be in Chicago by the 10. So we picked up $400 tickets to Paris for Sept. 9.
aftershocks
# so….the asshole/bitch rang up more than $150 on my check card. i should castrate that human being. need to fax in my claim on those charges.
# passport – ok – lame-ass me….I found my passport in my trunk AFTER I turned in my application for a new one….I spend an hour with the National Passport Services (40 minutes on hold) – trying to cancel that application – doesn’t look like that’s possible. c’est la vie
# cell phone – I love my mom for sending her phone out to me….now it doesn’t feel like I’m cut off from the world. It’s downright absurd how dependent I’ve become on this thing….imagine getting through a week without your cell – scary, yes?
