I must admit…I do love a hotel that offers an Internet Point…in the middle of Rome. I typing at a Win 98 machine…and the room as a beautiful fresco lit by blue lights…and getting used to the damn Italian keyboard.
Italy was beautiful. Flew into Pisa and took a train to Florence
Went to the Uffzi and saw thw Birth of Venus and some stuff by Leonardo Da Vinci. Mark said something funny…since Da Vinci created one work with another artist – he called one room Da Vinci 2 1/2 ….harkening back to Fellini’s Eight 1/2….yeah…well…think about it…you’ll get it.
We visited Steph and her Jacksonville friends, Rebecca and Liz. Delightful women.
Drinking chianti in front of the internet point. Mark is hugging me….we had too much to drink. Mark is feeling like he’s going to fall off the face of the planet. Florence is in Tuscany….and Tuscany is home to Chianti…and well..yeah…we bought that stuff…it’s yummy. Mark is cute, si? Si!
Saw the ‘David’ at the Galleria de Academia. First thought that flew in my head – at least it’s bigger than the one in Caesar’s Palace! Ok – this makes sense, since I grew up visiting Vegas with my family…so yeah. Stop rolling your eyes. It’s a beautiful piece.
Went to mass at the Duomo – beautiful Cathedral and it was lovely to worship with local instead of being treated with disdain as a tourist. i was able to follow along with most of the mass – answering in English…as folks did the Italian….did some Latin when the did Latin.
Kyrie Elisan. Christe Elisan. Kyrie Elisan.
I know I was a stranger – but I was welcome at the Lord’s table…I knew this in my heart and my faith understood the universal call to prayer….ontop of that – there’s my simple faith – by my baptism and first communion – I share in this faith….I believe that I am taking the body of Christ into my mouth. It doesn’t matter what language I worshipped in.
I wish we had more time….took a train to Rome….had dinner and a lot of drinks. Ended up in Steph’s room and watched re-runs of MTV European Awards in Scotland. Lovely girls.
I don’t want to go back to London…want to stay
