A bottle of wine, a good book and my hubby. Who could ask for anything more on a lazy afternoon?
I made it thru a few chapters of “The Unpopular Mr. Lincoln,” with a few glasses of Gruet Blanc de Noir Brut NV. This is the patio at Tucos in Davis.
It felt lovely to sit under sunny skies and feel little bit of a breeze on my shoulders. I thought the sparkling wine fit in nicely with our casual outdoor scene. It tasted woody and bright on my palate. It paired nicely with the the Truffle Tremor Cheese from Humboldt.
We also tried out a bottle of the Quinta do Infantado Port. This rich wine always reminds me of our train trip from Stonehenge. On this Sunday, we paired it with a Walnut Roll. A tasty dessert combo. However, the Port may have been a bit too heavy for a sunny day.
From the crazy newsroom to the wild BeerFests, Tucos is a lovely retreat from my busy lifestyle. It has a fine selection of wine, tasty food and a helpful staff. It’s one of my favorite spots in Davis.
