100 Happy Days: Clean Eating

Under one of the tents at Serramonte, one worker weighed my zucchini. I paid him. Then he counted out change.
“Thank you,” I chimed.
“See you next week,” he replied.

Cherry Tomatoes

Vendors at the Daly City Farmers Market are starting to remember me.

Our Peru trip is just around the corner. We spent April and May indulging in food and drinks. It feels like a lovely time to give my body a break with clean eating.

After my market trip, I made roasted zucchini and tomatoes with whole wheat linguini. I modified a recipe by Martha Stewart. I left out the salt, olive oil and cheese. I added chopped olives. I served it with salmon, grilled on cedar planks. My hubby left out salt and pepper on the fish. It tasted yummy!

Overall – not bad.
Mark liked it for dinner.

Photo Friday: Delicious!

Candles, roses and animal cards decorated the dining table for our anniversary dinner.

I loved the buttery wine sauce rendered from Jacques Pepin‘s Crusty Chicken. The chicken skin does all the work. Just let the birds cook in the skillet, with the skin side down.

Mark made lamb sausage couscous.

He also made bread pudding.

It was all delicious. Daisy wanted some test nibbles.

This my entry for this week’s Photo Friday theme: Delicious!

Photo Sunday: Delicate

My ENG Operator: “How was Barcelona?”
Me: “Too short.”

The transition to life back in the States feels surreal. The sights, flavors and people of Spain have turned into a dream.

I miss my morning ritual of café con leche on the balcony of our L’Eixample apartment, overlooking students chasing balls and residents drying laundry. I’ve returned to my American morning habit of strong Starbucks coffee (with fresh ground beans) and last night’s 11 PM aircheck. Then driving to work before sunrise.

I have my vacation photos. I nearly filled up my iPhone 4 with all the files. Totally worth it.

Now, I can look back at the best meal of my life.

Just one of those things…

Bone marrow for lunch
Last week, I did lunch with Susan in the Mission. We satisfied my craving for bone marrow at Monk’s Kettle.

Chorizo Corndogs
Over the weekend, my hubby and I did Sangria and tapas at Joya in Palo Alto. Our tapas included chorizo corndogs.

Then, we watched Hitchcock’s Vertigo at the Stanford Theater. San Francisco and the Bay Area look beautiful in this film. Plus – I adore Jimmy Stewart as the tortured detective who can’t get over his feat of heights.

Before the film, we enjoyed a live organ concert.
Facebook friends! You can watch some of that concert on my blog.

Comfort Me with Lobster

I suspect I enjoy menu browsing outside of restaurants more than window shopping at department stores and clothing boutiques.

I enjoy a decent deal off cute heels or a dress. However, I love a good meal. A tasty bite softens the blow of a bad day. Warm soup chases away the chill from a summer storm. A fine glass of wine makes my world a better place, on good and bad days.
